April has been a really full month for us.

We said goodbye to our latest interns and prayed for them at church before they left. Having them here in our home definitely meant never having a quiet moment. From watching them film TikToks and do stretching exercises in the yard, to talking about God and what He wants to do in their lives, studying Spanish, and having game nights, life was never boring.

We also got a visit from our two interns from 2023! It's so special to see them again and to see how God has been growing them and working in their lives for His glory.

We were able to stand beside a young couple as their "padrinos" (godparents are very common in weddings here in Guatemala). Selvin was in fourth grade when I moved to Guatemala in 2001! What a joy it was to see him marry a wonderful girl, and to walk with them as they stepped into this new phase of life.

Walter has been preaching about once a month at Río de Vida church, and he's also been leading a Bible study walking through the Old Testament. It's so encouraging to see people's hunger and interest in God's Word growing.

Up the mountain behind our house are whole communities of people, quite closed off to the gospel and rooted in religion. But every chance we get to show them the love of God, we take it, and it turns out, people love to be loved on. One young couple just had their first baby, and she walked down the mountain to reach a medical facility while she was in labor. Yikes! These are strong people.

We have seen God's excellent faithfulness in providing us places and people to minister to. As we step into this new season of ministry, God is opening doors we didn't even know existed. He hasn't shown us far into the distance, just the next step, one day at a time. After years of being busy and having what seemed like our lives planned out for us, suddenly we are trusting God anew with each step He leads us into. And there is joy, so much joy, in trusting Him in the middle of it all.

One picture that captures this for us is being introduced to the pastors in Purulhá. The day after our last day with Impact Ministries, we were asked by another ministry in our area, Seeds of Harvest, to start teaching this group of pastors. God didn't provide this opportunity before we stepped away; He provided it after, after we stepped out onto the water and let go of what felt secure. What a good God we serve.
