An exciting new opportunity has opened for us. We were invited to help run a Global Action class in Chisec with another ministry, Compelling Love. There's something really special about coming alongside other missionaries this way. We're not trying to build our own thing in a corner; we want to support others who are working for the same Kingdom. Getting to pour into leaders alongside people we respect, rather than separately, felt like exactly the kind of partnership ministry should look like.

  • You can see the climate is different here! So hot!!

We were so blessed to reconnect with my cousin Josh, who was down visiting. He challenged us to dream bigger, and it got us thinking. What else might God be calling us to?

We also got to spend an all-too-short time with some dear friends from BC.

We got a call from Pastor Oscar this month. He pastors a small church (with very big speakers) on the side of a mountain. A really strong windstorm came through and blew the roof off his small, one-room house. He and his wife, his in-laws, and their six kids were living under a piece of plastic! We were able to help them fix their roof.

James 2:16 asks, "If one of you says to them, 'Go in peace, keep warm and well fed,' but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?" Sometimes looking after physical needs is exactly what's needed. I can't imagine trying to minister to a community while your own family is suffering like that. God doesn't call us to follow Him only when things are easy, but isn't it beautiful to be part of an answered prayer?

  • Pastor Oscar and some of his family.
  • A tiny church with big speakers.

I have to talk about hospitality. I can't explain how much we've enjoyed being hospitable, and being welcomed into other people's homes, these last few months. Discipleship is all about relationship. This month that's looked like having pastors and their wives over, loving on people's kids, and being invited into people's homes to be part of their lives. We've been surrounded and drawn in by so many people, and have been able to love on them in return.

Walter led the Global Action pastors and leaders through their sixth course this month, Solid Doctrine (speaking the truth in love), and also preached, as always, at the churches.
