Following God is an Adventure!

Something God has really been showing me these last few months is that He wants to use us in different ways than we might have thought.

A few weeks ago, the superintendent pastor's wife from the Nazarene Church in Santa Cruz, contacted me and asked if I would share with the group of pastors' wives in their district.

I have been a behind-the-scenes person for many years. I've never really thought of myself as someone who would stand up in front of a group like this. But I've also always wanted to be someone who doesn't say no to God.

I'll admit, I was really nervous, especially when I saw that a few of the pastors who had dropped off their wives decided to stay and listen too.

I've found that some of the doors He is opening aren't necessarily the ones I would have pursued myself. But I am learning to recognize that He has placed me here, with the gifts and experiences I have, for a reason.

The pastors' wives were so sweet and made me feel so welcome. It was such a privilege to spend time with them and encourage them in their walk with the Lord, to remind them that God has called them first to love and grow in their relationship with Him, to intentionally raise their families for Him, protect their marriages, and love their families well in the middle of the busyness of ministry.

Sometimes God uses us in ways we didn't expect. That's part of the adventure of following Him, being willing to walk through the doors He opens, even when they aren't the doors we would have chosen for ourselves.
